The “Update required” message appears when Miniclip releases a new version and stops older versions from connecting. On the official app, update it from Google Play or the App Store. On the mod APK, uninstall the old build and install the latest version from our home page; updating through the Play Store replaces the mod with the official game.
Fix for the official app
- Open Google Play (or the App Store) and search 8 Ball Pool.
- Tap Update. If no button appears, clear the Play Store cache and try again.
- Restart the game.
Fix for the mod APK
- Check the current version on our home page and on the old versions page.
- Uninstall the old mod APK.
- Download and install the newest build.
- If the newest mod is not out yet, wait: new builds usually follow an official release within a few days.
Why it happens
The game checks your version against Miniclip’s server. When the server requires a newer version, old builds cannot join online matches. Offline practice may still work.
